Committed to education
Innovation begins with a comprehensive education.
HARMAN and many of our employees are engaged in activities to promote STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) education around the world. We believe that investing in these disciplines yields greater creativity and progress.
Initiatives around the world
- In 2014, HARMAN announced a partnership with China’s Tsinghua University to establish a new joint research laboratory focused on creating disruptive innovations for future vehicles
- In 2012, HARMAN awarded the JBL Sound Scholarship to the K.M. Music Conservatory (KMMC) in India, founded by internationally renowned music maestro A. R. Rahman. Its goal: facilitate hiring international-level faculty for the KMMC Strings’ Programme, thereby securing the most accomplished experts to train KMMC students
- In its inaugural year, HARMAN’s Acoustical Engineering Ambassadors Program took one lucky Recording Arts graduate student on an exclusive tour of our R&D facility in Northridge, California followed by a sneak peak of the 2014 GRAMMY® Awards rehearsals
- HARMAN distributes a number of scholarships each year. These include grants for graduate education in audio through the Audio Engineering Society, as well as the Sidney Harman Vision Scholarship fund supporting undergraduate, vocational or technical school degrees for children of active employees
